What is DiDD?
The Diplom in international Development & Diplomacy (DiDD) is a unique advanced training Programme organized by the Arab Association of Diplomacy to provide young and advanced leaders with the most necessary cutting-edge skills and capacities needed to engage in the broad fields of international relations and Diplomatic studies. This training includes theoretical first-hand exposure to the work of international organizations, practical hands-on experience to the development of Diplomacy, as well as the pathway to making public policies, and planning successful negotiations to help you to understand the Interplay between global Diplomacy and core conflicts and the work of the international community. The training method is a mix of distance learning for about 15 hours, as well as residential (face to face) learning for four days for about 35 hours conducted by instructors with long experience in delivering advanced trainings and with valid work experience in various leadership positions in several international organizations such as the United Nations, embassies, and public consulting companies.
What is the structure?
The training consists of two phases; Distance learning and Residential Learning.
In the Distance learning phase:
You will be giving a list of readings (articles and researches) in the field of international relations and you should select three of them and write an abstract for each reading. The abstract can be a summary or a reflection paper or you can suggest another format that you find more adequate. Each abstract must be at least one page with 350 words and max 2 pages with 1000 words. You must submit your three abstracts on time by the latest 10 days before the training in order to receive a successful Certificate of Participation in the Diploma. The readings will be mainly in Arabic and English. If you prefer to do this assignment in French or German, we will send you other readings. You can also write the abstracts in any of the mentioned languages.
In the Residential learning phase:
You will be able to participate in a training for four days in Hammamet, Tunisia. The training is held in mainly in Arabic, with some English inputs ( Slides of the presentations and terms). The training includes different forms such as lectures, seminars, presentations, workshops, outdoor activities, and peer-to-peer feedback. The training cover different areas of international relations such as Multilateral Negotiations, strategic communication, Diplomacy (Public, Cultural, and Digital), Human Rights, International Law, International Organizations, activism and conflict transformation.
Who can participate?
- You are at least 21 years old,
- You can speak and write in Arabic,
- You finished your Bachelor degree at the university or in the final year,
- You are interested in the work of international organizations and NGOs,
- You are interested in joining the public affairs and diplomatic work.
Certificate?
- Upon your successful participation in both learning phases, you will receive a Diploma certificate confirming your full and successful participation in the program and the topics of the whole training.
Costs?
Option one including accommodation
- The fee is 250 Euro. This includes the participation, training materials, coffee breaks, all meals, the certificate, and accommodation for 4 nights in double rooms.
Option two without accommodation
- The fee is 180 Euro. This includes the participation, training materials, coffee breaks, all meals, and the certificate.
Note: For interested applicants older than 30 years old there is an extra fee of 100 Euro.
